Although cooks and waiters are less likely to get along, this has been working well for us - Katja Goßmann and Sascha Jaeckel - for more than 20 years.
In September 2001 we founded the SchlafGut CityAppartments and started to rent four rooms of an apartment in Leipziger Nordstraße to guests of the city. The low-budget concept in the inner-city area came up, and soon three apartments could no longer meet the demand. Consequently, five years after our founding, we opened the SchlafGut guest house, Leipzig's only city center boardinhouse, with 24 rooms, thus remaining absolutely true to the motto "clean, reasonably priced and absolutely central".
After a short time, the few rooms with private bathroom in the guesthouse SchlafGut were permanently booked and so it was the need and a little luck that in 2010 we - two young entrepreneurs - founded the small SchlafGut AppartementHotel in the historic and completely renovated "Pragers Biertunnel" within sight of the famous Leipzig Augustusplatz.
Meanwhile, our boardinghouse and our AppartementHotel are gems in Leipzig’s accommodation industry, which stand out from the strongholds of chain hotels downtown. With us, the guest is still addressed by name, the bosses themselves are sometimes at the front desk and exactly this cordiality is highly appreciated by our guests. But the real piece of gold are our loyal and hard-working staff, almost all true Saxons, who are committed to ensuring that the rooms are spotlessly clean and our guests are completely satisfied. This makes SchlafGut our personal success story, which continues daily thanks to our many (regular) guests.
